IXL SUMMER BOOST SKILL PLAN FOR MATH AND LANGUAGE ARTS
PARENTS--PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE
In order to continue the positive MAP score trends, students will engage in IXL and summer reading activities. The skill plans prepare students for the next grade level by reviewing and solidifying concepts from the previous year. There is a Summer Boost Skill Plan for Math and one for Language Arts. Students are expected to complete one math and one language arts skill each day and to achieve a minimum of 80%.
The flyer (please see below) from the Faculty of St. Pius X Regional School:
1)outlines the mandatory IXL Summer Boost Skill Plan for Math and Language Arts;
2)explains how parents can locate your child(ren)'s Summer Boost Skill Plan for Math and Reading, and
3)explains how to locate your child(ren)'s Action Plan.
Parents must monitor your child(ren)as he/she completes the assigned lessons from June 12, 2025 through August 26, 2025.
The assigned lessons should be completed over the summer even if they were already completed during the previous school year. The faculty expects students to work to achieve a minimum Smart Score of 80 on each individual skill. For rising 4th grade-8th grade students, these completed skills WILL be counted as first quarter quiz grades for the coming school year.
The summer 2025 reading lists and forms for grades K through 8 are attached below.

LOST AND FOUND BIN-- EYEGLASSES
Did your child(ren) lose a pair of eyeglasses? The front office has a small bin full of regular and prescription glasses. Please stop by and visit the front office during regular (or summer) office hours to go through the bin.
Attached please find the SPX 2025-2026 preview calendar for important back to school event dates, and other important dates throughout the 2025-2026 school year. Please be sure to update your calendars.
Mrs. Lonergan runs two one-week sessions of summer basketball camp for boys and girls between ages 8 through 14 through the City of Bowie. The summer basketball camp will be held at the City of Bowie Gymnasium located at 4100 Northview Drive, Bowie, MD 20716.
The camp runs between 9 am and 4 pm during the following weeks:
Monday-Friday June 23, 2025-June 27, 2025 OR
Monday-Friday July 7, 2025-July 11, 2025.

Mrs. Lonergan has a parachute that requires repair. The hem needs to be overlapped and restitched. Please contact Mrs. Lonergan at mlonergan@stpiusbowie.org if you are able and willing to assist. VSP hours will be granted.
The Sacred Heart Council of the Knights of Columbus #2577 (6111 Columbian Way, Bowie, MD 20715) will celebrate their centennial (100 years of service--1925-2025) next week. Events include a Celebratory Mass and picnic, Centennial Golf Tournament at the Bowie Golf Club, 100th Anniversary BINGO, Trivia night, Council Meeting and Champagne Social, Sunset Cruise of the Chesapeake, and Black-Tie Centennial Gala. 2025 - 2026 Uniforms
Our uniform transition is now over. Our official and only uniform provider is Lands' End. Any green / navy purchases through Flynn O'Hara may still be worn. No teal / black uniform pieces are allowed.

SUMMER STORYTIME WITH THE SISTERS!
The Daughters of St. Paul host a Summer Storytime on select Thursdays from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at their bookstore (Pauline Books and Media), 1025 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. The story times (stories, activities, and songs) are for 3- to 5-year-olds (with parent/guardian; siblings are welcome). The bookstore is part of the multimedia mission of the Daughters of St. Paul, a religious congregation that proclaims Jesus Christ through contemporary media.
