Reenrollment of current students for the 2025-2026 school year has not started yet. Families will be notified by email once the reenrollment process opens.  Thank you for your patience.

As you know, St. Pius has had 4 snow days this year.   At this time, we are not required to make up any days. 

In preparation for any possible future inclement weather, we will make these missed days asynchronous learning days. This means that the classroom/homeroom teacher will provide students with assignments presented as either hard copy, posted in Google classroom, or a combination of both.   All directions for grades 

*Please note that asynchronous learning is different from virtual learning in that there are no virtual meetings and students work at his/her own pace. 

The school understands that weather closures and delays can be frustrating to many of our working families. St. Pius X Regional School follows Prince George’s County decisions regarding weather closures. There are several reasons behind this approach. The public school district has tools and resources to assess road conditions and the overall safety of travel. By following the public Prince George’s County closures and delays, we help protect everyone who travels to and from our school. Many families and staff commute from many different locations throughout the Maryland, DC, and Virginia area. This decision helps ensure the roads in and around our school are safe. As a Catholic community, we are called to care for one another and make decisions that reflect our shared values. Prioritizing safety is one way we live out this mission, ensuring that no one is placed at unnecessary risk during severe weather conditions.

Again, we understand that weather-related closures can be disruptive. However, by aligning with the public school district, we ensure that our actions are guided by a thorough and informed process that prioritizes safety above all else.

SPX SCHOOL STUDENT GOVERNMENT WARM NIGHTS SERVICE PROJECT                  

The St. Pius Student Government is collecting food and other items for unsheltered guests participating in Warm Nights.  Warm Nights is a non-denominational program that provides shelter and support for people during the winter months.  We are collecting the items from January 30 through February 13.   Please consider donating one of the following items:

PreK--3--Kid sized toothbrushes and toothpaste

PreK--4--Boxes of shelf milk

K----------Peanut Butter

Grade 1--Jelly

Grade 2--Individual juice boxes

Grade 3--Canned Pasta--spaghettios/individual cups of Mac and cheese

Grade 4--Individual sized cereals

Grade 5--Cup O Soup

Grade 6--Individual sized fruit cups

Grade 7--Individual sized fruit cups

Grade 8--Bar soap--sensitive

Faculty/staff:  underwear and socks for kids and adults

Students in grades 1 through 8 will participate in a Spelling Bee that will begin on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.  Please watch for more information coming in February.

The General HSA Meeting scheduled for February 3, 2025 is being rescheduled for Monday, March 10th at 7 pm to be held virtually.  The presentation of the 2024-2026 budget and tuition rates will take place on Tuesday, February 10th at 7 pm on Google Meet.

The Golden Apple Award was created by the Pittsburgh-based Donahue Family Foundation whose founders, Jack and Rhodora Donahue, sent their 13 children to Catholic schools. Eager to express their deep appreciation to Catholic school teachers, the award was created to honor teachers for providing a quality academic and faith-filled education.  The Golden Apple award is awarded in five dioceses across the country.

The Golden Apple award is given annually to ten (10) Archdiocese of Washington Catholic school teachers for teaching excellence and dedication to Catholic education.  The award includes a Golden Apple, certificate, and a check.

To nominate a St. Pius X Regional School teacher, parents, students, or colleagues must complete the Golden Apple Nomination form.  Please return the completed application to Mrs. Gillespie no later than Friday, February 7, 2025.

One of our best SPX traditions is the annual Faculty & Staff Appreciation Luncheon that we host during Catholic Schools Week!  This feast of soups, chilis, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and more is a favorite among our faculty & staff - especially because we always provide to-go options for an extra treat on the weekend!

The luncheon is being held Friday, January 31.  We need your help to make this happen!   You can donate items, food, and your time!  Please sign up today to help thank our faculty & staff for all they do!
