In an effort to quantify student progress based on increased efforts in math and language arts we WILL be testing midyear.   The schedule is as follows:

 

January 16th - Grade 1 Reading (8 AM) for 1A, (9:15 AM) for 1B
January 22nd - Middle School-Math (8 AM)
January 23rd - Middle School-Reading (8 AM)
January 24th - Middle School-Language Usage (8 AM)
February 3rd - Grades 4 and 5 -Math (8:30 AM)
February 4th - Grades 4 and 5 -Reading (8:30 AM)
February 5th - Grades 4 and 5-Language Usage (8:30 AM)
February 6th - Grades 2 and 3-Math (8::30 AM)
February 10th -Grade 1-Math (8AM) for 1A, (9:15 AM) for 1B
February 11th -Grades 2 and 3-Reading (8:30 AM)
February 12th -Grades 2 and 3-Language Usage (8:30 AM)

Parents--please bring your well rested student(s) to school on time.  Also, please ensure that your student(s) eat a hearty and healthy breakfast before school, especially on the MAP Assessment mornings.  MAP stands for "measuring academic progress" or standardized tests.

It is time for our annual SPX Open House – Volunteers are needed!

SPX will host our annual Open House welcoming the community and prospective families to tour the campus. This event showcases the best of St. Pius and kicks off our celebration of Catholic Schools Week.

One of our best SPX traditions is the annual Faculty & Staff Appreciation Luncheon that we host during Catholic Schools Week!  This feast of soups, chilis, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and more is a favorite among our faculty & staff - especially because we always provide to-go options for an extra treat on the weekend!

The luncheon is being held Friday, January 31.  We need your help to make this happen!   You can donate items, food, and your time!  Please sign up today to help thank our faculty & staff for all they do!

Catholic Schools Week is the week of January 27.  To show our appreciation to our parents, we will be having a Parent Appreciation Luncheon on January 27 from 11:00-1:00pm.  We will be having lasagna, salad and bread.  As a special treat the teachers will be providing desserts.  Please RSVP at the link below by January 22.

The 7th and 8th grade dance will be held in Nelson Hall on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 7 pm to 10 pm.  The theme of the dance is "Y2K".  Online tickets cost $10 per student; tickets may be purchased at the door for $15 cash.   Parents must register and pay for each student individually.

SPX CYO NEWS
ADW CYO plans to have the following spring sports: Soccer, Track/Field, Flag Football, and possibly Pickleball.
The spring season (games) will occur ~ 5 April - 18 May 2025.
The plan is to open Flag Football and Pickleball to the 10U—14U age groups. We will post more details when they are available. In the meantime, please advise if your child is interested in either or both of the new sports.

** NOTE: If ADW CYO can make the season happen, registration will have a short timeline, so please read the news notes.
We will need Virtus-certified coaches and a commissioner. If you are interested, please advise. We will send the volunteer job details for the position.
SPX CYO will open registration for the soccer and track/field season in the next few weeks. Practices are expected to start ~ 15 March 2025. We will need Virtus-certified coaches.
Lastly, to have a spring track/field season, SPX CYO will need a new Commissioner to run the program. If you are interested, please advise. We will send the volunteer job details for the position.

Show your support for The SPX School Players production of Annie, JR by ordering some SWAG to wear around! To encourage support, all students who purchase a t-shirt or sweatshirt (or are in the cast / crew) will be allowed to wear it OVER their uniform on Friday, February 21 - OPENING NIGHT!

Parents of those in the show are especially encouraged to wear some swag when volunteering at performances!

We are offering short sleeve t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies and baseball caps. Items are offered in RED and BLACK options. T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies are screen printed and baseball caps are embroidered.

Show your support for our cast and crew by purchasing an Applause Note for them! Applause Notes will be printed in our program for Annie, Jr.

We are offering half and full page options. The full page size is 8.5 x 5.5 with the half page option being 4.25 x 5.5.

Applause Notes are text only, black and white. They can include the receipients name(s), a message of 1 - 3 sentences, and the senders name(s).

Applause Notes must be submitted by January 17, 2025.

The SPX School Players will proudly present Annie, Jr on February 21 - 23, 2025 at 3 performances. This production features students in grades 2 - 8 in the cast and crew.

Local businesses are invited to show their support by purchasing advertising in the program.

The finished program size is 8.5 x 5.5 inches.

We are offering half and full page options. The full page size is 2120 x 3176 px with the half page option being 2120 x 1548 px.

Ads will be printed in black and white.

Ads should be submitted print-ready, in black and white and the proper size in one file (.jpg, .gif or .png).

Ads must be between 1 - 10 MB in size.

Ads must be submitted by January 17, 2025.
