Our first General HSA Meeting of the year will be held on Monday, September 23 at 7 pm in the Nelson Hall. All parents / guardians are invited to attend to hear updates from Ms. Gillespie and school organizations and events. As an incentive to attend, the Homeroom with the highest percentage of parent / guardian attendance will be awarded a pizza party and the CAT Trophy. We look forward to seeing you and working with you this school year!

All SPX Regional School Families are invited to join us for a Family Bingo Night on Friday, September 27 in Nelson Hall. Prizes include gift cards, family-themed baskets and more! The doors open at 6 pm with Bingo beginning at 6:30 pm.
Tickets are $10 each (adults and kids) and includes 12 rounds of Bingo plus a raffle ticket for a door prize. Additional raffle tickets will be on sale that evening - 1 for $2 or 3 for $5. CASH ONLY. Bingo daubers will also be on sale for $1 each.
Families have the option of pre-purchasing pizzas for dinner ($13 each for large cheese or pepperoni - includes plates and napkins). Pizza is pre-order only and will not be on sale that evening. Pizza orders close Wednesday, September 27 at 11 pm.

BAKE SALE DURING PIZZA DAY
On our Pizza Lunch days, students also have the opportunity to purchase items from our Bake Sale.
We are looking for volunteers on the day of the bake sale and bakers. Volunteers will assist in selling the baked goods to the classrooms. The perk of volunteering on the day of the sale is that you not only get VSP hours, you also get an opportunity to see your child(ren).In addition, we are seeking bakers to commit to donating two dozen (24) baked wrapped goodies for each bake sale for the whole school year. VSP hours will be provided: 1.5 VSP hours will be earned for each dozen of HOMEMADE goodies, .5 VSP hours will be provided for donating store bought items. All items must be brought in with your child or dropped off no later than 8:30am. Please clearly mark items with your child’s name and classroom in order to get credit.PLEASE NOTE: Brownies, Rice Krispies treats, and similar baked goods should be no smaller than the palm of your hand (i.e., one 9x13 oblong pan should yield 12 brownies, Rice Krispies treats, etc.) At least 2 to 3 cookies must be wrapped together in order to count as 1 item (i.e., a batch of 36 cookies will yield 12-18 items, not a full 3 dozen). Ziploc bags work best for packing items. *Due to allergies we kindly ask that you do not make anything that contains peanuts or tree nuts.In addition, the price of the baked items are now $0.50. Please send your child in with two quarters if you would like them to purchase a treat.

The SPX School Players are proud to present Annie, Jr. as our school musical this year. Here's a brief synopsis: With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil schemes, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Performances will be held February 21 - 23, 2025. No absences from rehearsals are allowed after February 8, 2025.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, September 15 from 3 - 6 pm in the Hall. Students in grades 2 - 8 are invited to audition. Students do NOT need to stay the entire time - they can come anytime during that time period. For the audition, students are asked to sing a song from the show. Sheet Music & Audio Recordings can be found at stpiusbowie.org/anniejr. Students are asked to pick from the songs provided on the website and can sing WITH the music-only recording or accapella. Students are welcome to use the sheet music or words during their audition.
Students in grades 4 - 8 who are interested in being part of the Stage Crew are asked to come fill out an interest sheet at auditions as well. Grades 4 - 5 can be part of our ushers / house crew, Star Grams and Concessions. Grades 6 - 8 can work backstage with sound, lighting, and back stage moving set pieces.
If the audition committee would like to hear more from a student, such as if they are being considered for a role that has solo singing or speaking lines, they will be invited to Callbacks. Callbacks are being held Tuesday, September 17 & Thursday, September 19 from 6 - 8 pm in the Hall. Only students who are invited should come to callbacks.

School Photograph Day
The Fall 2024 SPX School photo day will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Physical photograph order forms will NOT be provided as in the past. Parents need to pre-order photograph packages online prior to photo day. All ordered packages will ship to your home after photo day. The parent contact for questions is customercare@legacystudios.com. The retake photo day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
