The SPX School Players are proud to present Annie, Jr. as our school musical this year. Here's a brief synopsis: With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil schemes, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Performances will be held February 21 - 23, 2025. No absences from rehearsals are allowed after February 8, 2025.
Auditions will be held on Sunday, September 15 from 3 - 6 pm in the Hall. Students in grades 2 - 8 are invited to audition. Students do NOT need to stay the entire time - they can come anytime during that time period. For the audition, students are asked to sing a song from the show. Sheet Music & Audio Recordings can be found at https://stpiusbowie.org/anniejr (play information may be found on the school website under the "School Life" heading under the "Annie Jr." tab). Students are asked to pick from the songs provided on the website and can sing WITH the music-only recording or a cappella. Students are welcome to use the sheet music or words during their audition.
If the audition committee would like to hear more from a student, such as if they are being considered for a role that has solo singing or speaking lines, they will be invited to Callbacks. Callbacks are being held Tuesday, September 17 & Thursday, September 19 from 6 - 8 pm in the Hall. Only students who are invited should come to callbacks.

FAMILY SURVEY
Family Survey Papers were sent home earlier this week with the youngest or only child in the family. Please complete and return this survey ASAP. You do not need to put names on the survey. All information will be kept confidential. By completing this survey we will secure the most federal and state funds for the children in our Catholic schools. They are due back no later than Friday, September 6, 2024.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Library Volunteers Wanted!
Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity for this school year? Please consider volunteering in the school library! TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED. You do not have to choose your student’s scheduled library time, but may if you would like to. Multiple volunteers for the same class will rotate duties each month. In addition to scheduled class times, Ms. Neitzey needs volunteers each morning from 8:30-9:30am to check in and re-shelve books. Choose one of the times or more! Request for Library Volunteers Flyer Volunteer schedules may change each quarter, and you may choose different volunteer times to accommodate your schedule. Volunteering in the library is a yearlong commitment, and you must be compliant with the Virtus Child Protection Program to volunteer in the school library. VFW Youth Scholarship and Education Contest Information
School Photograph Day
The Fall 2024 SPX School photo day will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Physical photograph order forms will NOT be provided as in the past. Parents need to pre-order photograph packages online prior to photo day. All ordered packages will ship to your home after photo day. The parent contact for questions is customercare@legacystudios.com. The retake picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
GOT SNEAKERS???
St. Pius X is holding an athletic shoe drive fundraiser to raise money for SGA. SPX will earn funds based on the total quantity of gently worn, used, and new sneakers collected. GotSneakers, a social enterprise, will issue funds in compensation for the collected sneakers. Those funds will benefit SGA. Anyone can help by simply donating gently worn, used, and new sneakers.
GotSneakers has developed a unique fundraising program that asks communities to reach into their closets, not their pockets! The sneaker recycling program helps keep sneakers out of landfills, which has harmful effects on our environment, and helps organizations like ours raise much needed funds.
