An update to all currently enrolled families at St. Pius X Regional School: Applications for new Pre-K students has opened. Due to the volume of new applications, we are strongly encouraging that all currently enrolled families that would like to have a Pre-K student considered for the 2024-2025 school year submit their application before the Thanksgiving break to ensure the application receives "sibling priority". The application can be found in the link below and on the St. Pius website under the tab "Admissions". All applications will be entered electronically through the TADS Admission Services.
The age requirement for Pre-K 3 is 3 by September 1, 2024 (Born before 9/1/2021)
The age requirement for Pre-K 4 is 4 by September 1, 2024 (Born before 9/1/2020)
PARKING CONCERNS
Parents when come to the school during any time other then arrival and dismissal that requires you to park and exit your vehicle you must park in one of the parking spaces. It is not permitted to pull up along the curb, which is a designated emergency service lane. If you park along the curb you will be instructed to move your vehicle to a parking space before the school can assist you.
BEING MINDFUL OF OUR NEIGHBORS
It has come to our attention that in recent months one or more individuals have been trespassing into the yard of one of our neighbors and helping themselves to items from their garden. Such behavior is totally unacceptable and contrary to our philosophy, not to mention illegal. Our property is under video surveillance and we are endeavoring to identify the offending individuals. We ask anyone with knowledge of this to please inform us as soon as possible.
NEW TARDY POLICY
FEES BEGAN ACCRUING MONDAY, OCTOBER 2
NEW THIS SCHOOL YEAR-- Please note our new late arrival (tardy) policy which can be found in our handbook - "Each student will be allowed 5 unexcused tardies each quarter, after the 5th tardy, parents will be charged a $10.00 fee per family for each time their child is late. This fee will be charged through TADS."

Friendly Reminder
Once a child has been dismissed from the classroom, he or she is NOT permitted to return to the classroom for forgotten items.
Student supervision can not be guaranteed after 3:30pm as faculty and staff have other duties and may not be available to accompany students. Because many of the classrooms are used for other purposes they should not be interrupted. We strive to provide students with responsibility opportunities and a forgotten item is a great lesson to learn.
NEW ATTENDANCE POLICY
NEW THIS SCHOOL YEAR-- All absences must be reported to the school by 8 am. If your student is absent you MUST call the school and/or email Mrs. Fay at pfay@stpiusbowie.org. Any non confirmed absences will be verified by phone from the office. If a student is absent for 3 or more consecutive days a doctor's note is required for the student to return to school.

UNEARNED VSP HOURS
All unearned VSP hours from the 2022-2023 School year will be billed in your November tuition.
FAMILIES HELPING FAMILIES FOOD DRIVE
St. Pius X Regional School would like to thank everyone that generously donated food to our Families Helping Families Food Drive. With everyone's combined efforts we were able to donate 28 Thanksgiving Baskets. SPX Parish will be distributing Thanksgiving Baskets to families who are in need of assistance. The mission serves St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Largo, Assumption Parish in S.E. Washington and the Bowie Interfaith Pantry.

SANTA NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Our annual Christmas Bazaar is almost upon us. This year, the Bazaar will be held on December 4 and 5, in Father Nelson Hall. This very special event provides our children with the opportunity to do their holiday shopping for their families. More details to come.
In the meantime, to prepare for this wonderful event, several of Santa’s Shops need additional helpers. These helpers or table co-chairs are responsible for procuring inventory for their table, setting up their table for each day of the Bazaar and selling on the Bazaar days. Chairs must be VIRTUS certified since the bazaar takes place during school hours. If you would like to help, please send an email to spx.christmas.bazaar@gmail.com. - volunteers who would like to make or donate homemade jewelry, bathbombs, candles, or soap; 1-5 hours being offered.
Raffle Table
- Toy donations! New toys that can be raffled off. Please put them in the box in the lobby. Please do not donate toys that you would not want yourself.
Raffle Ticket Table
- at-home assistance with organizing the tickets prior to filling raffle ticket orders. Organizing includes sorting tickets in quantities of 5, 10, 15, and 20 tickets. Definitely a task that can be done while home watching a good movie!
- volunteer(s) to help fill the raffle ticket pre-orders during school, between 1:30 and 3 p.m., a few days per week leading up to the event. This needs to be done at school, which requires the volunteer(s) to be VIRTUS certified.

SOME SHOEBOX GIFT DRIVE
Holiday Shoebox Gift Drive
November 20 through December 13, 2023
This year, St. Pius X Regional School will once again participate in SOME’S (So Others Might Eat) annual Shoebox Gift Drive. Through the Shoebox Gift Drive, you can provide essential clothing and toiletry items and show the poor and homeless that you care. This can be a great way to learn the true meaning of giving.
Please wrap the shoebox lid and box separately. It is also helpful to tape a list of the items in the box on the lid.
Listed below are some suggested items to include in your gift.
Each shoebox gift should contain the following items:
1 hat 1 scarf
1 pair of gloves 1 pair of socks
1 pair of underwear 1 deodorant
2 razors 1 soap
1 shampoo 1 lotion
1 toothbrush 1 toothpaste
Please no cash, food, candy, mouthwash, hand sanitizer, or fast food gift cards. Please do not send any partially filled boxes; only complete ones. All items must be brought in to school by Wednesday, Dec. 13th so that we may deliver them to SOME on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023. Please deliver to PK4A Mrs. Bryant’s room.
St. Pius will be collecting Toys For Tots. Please help us by buying a new toy for a boy or a girl and do not wrap the gift. We will have Toys For Tots boxes in the lobby during school hours. We will begin collecting the gifts on Monday, November 13th. The deadline for our toy collection is Wednesday, December 13th. Please help support this wonderful program for children in need!

COVID- 19 INFORMATION
- If your child/ren are sick please stay home, if showing signs of COVID-19 please take a test. (please contact the school, we can send home a test with your child)
- If your child/ren tests positive please stay home, email your child’s teacher and the school nurse (mbenson@stpiusbowie.org)
- If your child is positive our protocol is to have them stay home for 5 days from the date they tested positive. The date of positivity is DAY 0. Upon the student’s return to school they may continue to mask until all symptoms have improved or until 10 days from positive test.
- If you have siblings who may be a close contact: test if they are negative they may continue to attend school. If they begin to show symptoms, students will be sent home and asked to retest.
- You may choose to send your child in with a mask at any time. Please supply extras in their bookbag and inform their teacher that you would like them to wear a mask.
