NEW STAFF SPOTLIGHT
St. Pius X Regional School has welcomed several new staff members this school year. We would like to take a moment to showcase these new faculty members so you can get to know them. Each week we will be introducing you to one of our wonderful new additions. We will begin with Mr. Tony Limarzi, Dean of Students for Middle School.
Mr. Tony Limarzi has been hired to fill the newly created position of Dean of Students for Middle School. Mr. Limarzi worked in the 5th grade at St. Pius for two years, before becoming a P.E. teacher in Montgomery County for the last two school years. He is very excited to be back at St. Pius, and reunited with his old 5th grade students who are now 8th graders. The Dean of Students will assist Ms. Gillespie, support the middle school teachers, and help the 8th graders throughout the high school selection process. Mr. Limarzi is very happy to be working with his former colleagues and is looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces.
VETERANS OF FOREIGN WAR’S SPONSORED
PATRIOT'S PEN ESSAY CONTEST FOR 6TH-8TH GRADERS
Conducted nationwide, this VFW-sponsored youth essay competition gives students an opportunity to write essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. We invite you to join the more than 73,000 students in 6-8th grade who participated last year in this Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest. Prizes and scholarships will be awarded to winners at the Post, District, State and national level. Department (State) winners receive a portion of $55,000 in national awards. National Winners will receive at least $500. The first-place national award is currently $5,000. The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word
essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW
Commander-in-Chief. The 2023-24 theme is: “How are you inspired by America?”.
The entry deadline is October 31, 2023.

YEARBOOK UPDATE
The yearbooks for the 2022 - 2023 school year have arrived! If you ordered a yearbook please come in to the school to pick up. 8th grade graduates' yearbooks are in the front office.
FAMILY SURVEY
The family survey is vital to secure services both for our school and those in the county. It is essential to have every family complete the poverty survey. Each form is confidential. Only complete one survey per family, but be sure to include grade levels for all of your children attending our school. Please fill out the survey and return it to the school no later than Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
WALKERS PASS
For a student to walk home from school, we must first have a walker pass completed and returned to the school. This form is available in the link and on our website. No student will be permitted to walk home until we have received this form.
VSP HOURS
Please remember to record all VSP hours into your Track It Forward account. All approvers, please go in and approve hours recorded.

Vaccine Requirements 2023-2024 School Year
Updates: Please check your students immunization record and make sure it is up to date and the School Nurse has an updated copy.
**** Students entering 7th grade must have a TDAP and MCV vaccine prior to the start of the new school year. Please if your child has already received these vaccinations send in a copy with your student or send to my email.
We will enforce exclusion from school if not received prior to the first day of school.

ST. PIUS X CYO FALL SPORTS
Fall Registration: SPX CYO is offering Soccer and Cross-Country as part of our fall sports programs. We offer 8U - 14U for both our Soccer and Cross-Country programs. Please see the attached flyer for the age eligibility, cost, and registration link information. PLEASENOTE: Spaces are limited for our 8U Co-Ed Soccer program, as well as our 10U Boys, 12U Boys, and 14U Boys Soccer teams as teams are quickly filling up.
We are in need of 12U Girls players to complete a team. Please consider playing for CYO. It's a great opportunity for the kids to be with their friends, learn in a developmental environment (ages 8U & 10U), and compete for our Parish program.
SPX CYO Fundraiser:Football Mania is BACK! Please see attached flyer for all the details. The class that sells the most tickets will win a pizza party (and) the individual / family that sells the most tickets will win a free CYO registration (family must sell a minimum of 15 tickets to qualify).
